eng Mechanochemistry-based synthesis of layered zirconium phosphates and phosphonates Zirconium hydrogen phosphates were prepared by reacting of zirconium oxychloride with alkali metal hydrogen and dihydrogen phosphates. In the case of zirconium, the use of dihydrogen phosphates leads to γ-type phosphates, the use of hydrogen phosphates leads to α-type phosphates. Ammonia and lithium intercalated γ-titanium hydrogen phosphates were obtained using ammonium and lithium dihydrogen phosphate. Zirconium phosphates intercalated with various organic bases (aliphatic amines and diamines, aniline, pyridine) can be prepared by similar way using phosphates of the corresponding base. Analogously, zirconium organophosphonates were prepared by reacting zirconium oxychloride with the corresponding phosphonic acid (phenylphosphonic, carboxymethylphosphonic, ethylenediphosphonic, and 2-sulfoethylphosphonic acid). If α-ZrP or γ-ZrP is mixed with an appropriate acid, phosphate groups are partially exchanged for phosphonate groups and mixed phosphate-phosphonates are formed. zirconium phosphate; syntesis; layered compounds
