eng Effect of ternary mobile phase composition on the retention of polar substances in HILIC Recently, the interest in Hydrophilic Interaction Liquid Chromatography (HILIC) applications has been growing significantly. It is caused by the increased need for the separation of highly polar and ionized substances, which are difficult to achieve in other modes of liquid chromatography. The aim of this work was to evaluate the influence of ternary mobile phases on retention and selectivity and to optimize the method for the determination of selected polar substances. The combination of acetonitrile, methanol, and aqueous buffer can influence the character of the diffuse aqueous layer on the surface of the HILIC stationary phases and affect the separation quality.
