eng Itaconated methyl ester of camelina oil an eco friendly monomers for the synthesis of latex coating binders Latexes were synthesised from commercial acrylates and a new monomer based on camelina oil and itaconic acid, which was incorporated into the polymer network via emulsion polymerisation . Due to the specific structure of the bio-monomer, increased cross-linking occurred, leading to the formation of glossy and transparent coatings with excellent properties . A significant result was the high resistance to water whitening, which decreased by approximately 80% in samples with 25–30 wt.% of the bio-monomer, confirming the potential of these materials as sustainable binders . emulsion polymerisation; polymeric latex; camelina oil; itaconic acid
