eng The Importance of Selected Aspects of Sustainable Production of Consumer Chemicals from the Perspective of Consumers The growing interest of consumers in building sustainability within business entities also raises interest in the environmental aspects of production processes. If consumers perceive these aspects as successfully managed, it can influence their willingness to purchase. Therefore, it is important to understand which environmental aspects of production consumers consider and their significance to them. To develop knowledge in this area, primary quantitative research was conducted among two hundred consumers of food products and consumer chemicals. The importance of environmental aspects of production processes such as reduced consumption of materials, energy, and water during production, the use of renewable resources, materials, and energy during production, the use of recycled (secondary) materials during production, reducing the volume of waste (including emissions) during production, and recycling of by-products, waste, and other used materials during production were examined. It was found that consumers care more about reducing material and energy needs in production processes, using recycled inputs, and recycling used resources and waste than about using renewable resources. Differences in the perception of environmental aspects of production were not revealed based on gender, age, or education. However, they exist depending on the type of product. The environmental aspects “Use of recycled (secondary) materials in production” and “Reducing the volume of waste during production” are more important to consumers in the case of beverage production than in the production of food, detergents, and cosmetic products.
