eng Sustainable Packaging Redesign for Household Chemicals and Cosmetics Products The demand for sustainable packaging is rising, driven by growing awareness of its environmental and social impact. However, a clear consensus on its key attributes and market feasibility is still lacking, while technological and market barriers continue to hinder its practical implementation. The aim of this paper is to identify the main opportunities and barriers for the redesign of consumer packaging. This study examines the challenges faced by manufacturers of household chemicals and cosmetics, a sector that has not received sufficient attention despite its significant environmental and social impacts. Through a literature review and a multiple case study, we identified 31 tools and their associated barriers across six key areas of sustainable packaging redesign: Product Protection and Waste Prevention, Easy and Safe Handling, Clear and Credible Communication, Resource Savings and Waste Minimization, Reusability, and Waste Recycling. The sustainable redesign of household chemical packaging is essential for reducing environmental impact, meeting consumer demand, and driving economic benefits. By preserving resources, reducing emissions, and fostering innovation, it presents a crucial opportunity for manufacturers to contribute to a more sustainable future.
