eng	Simultaneous Electrochemical Detection of Crocin and Safranal	In this contribution, the experimental conditions of electrochemical oxidation of crocin and safranal were carefully optimized to allow their simultaneous detection and quantification using differential pulse voltammetry. The glassy carbon electrode was used as a working electrode together with ethanol or ethanol/acetonitrile mixture with the addition of 0.1 M LiClO4. Crocin exhibited a nonlinear current response compared to that of safranal, which was linear within the concentration range of 2−60 µmol L−1 of both compounds in a model sample. Recoveries from 95 % to 115 % and 104 % to 106 % were attained in ethanol for crocin and safranal, respectively.	Crocin; Safranal; Glassy carbon electrode
