The Festival of science and technology for children and youth competition in the Pardubice Region is part of the Programme for the development of students’ interest in scientific and technical fields. The 14th round was held this year and it was again organized by the Association for Youth, Science and Technology AMAVET in cooperation with the Pardubice Region, the University of Pardubice and other partners.
Despite the negative impact of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020 and 2021, the regional round held on 16–17 March 2022 in the Ideon exhibition centre was joined by more than 100 authors with a total of 70 scientific and technical projects which succeeded in the district rounds in Lanškroun and Pardubice. The award ceremony for the best projects in the JUNIOR and SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENT categories took place on the second day of the competition at 2 p.m.
30 authors of the best projects in the JUNIOR category received a placement in France; in the SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENT category, the authors of the best projects advanced to the national final of the EXPO SCIENCE AMAVET competition, where they will have the opportunity to proceed to the INTEL ISEF 2022 competition to be held in Atlanta, USA.
In parallel, the 9th year of scientific and technical projects of the national robotic competition RoboRAVE took place, which this year included 15 teams in the JUNIOR category and 18 teams in the SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENT category. The winning team will participate in RoboRAVE International.
The competition also included manufacturing companies from the Pardubice Region with a high innovation potential. They included, for example, Contipro a.s., Dolní Dobrouč, Bühler CZ, s.r.o. Žamberk as well as companies associated in a consortium to support the interest of children and youth from Lanškroun and Pardubice in science and technology.
The Faculty of Chemical Technology of the University of Pardubice nominated a team of renowned professionals in chemistry and biomedicine whose task was to objectively assess the quality and level of the projects presented in both competition categories. The winners in the SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENT category were presented with the Dean’s Prize, promises of scholarships and a yearly membership in the Czech Chemical Society. In the JUNIOR category, the young researchers were given valuable presents.
We would like to congratulate all of the winners and appreciate the participation of the assessors from our faculty!
