Synthesis, characterization and solvolytic stability New 2,6-bis(5-alkyl-1,5-dimethyl-4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazol-4-on-2-yl)pyridines have been prepared and characterized by 1H-, 13C-NMR and elemental analysis. These ligands form complexes with FeCl2, which were isolated and characterized by elemental analysis and MS. By means of the kinetic stopped-flow method, the rate constants of acid catalyzed decomposition were determined.
