eng	Hyaluronic acid, its properties, degradation and utilization in biomedicine	Hyaluronic acid (HA) is undoubtedly one of the simplest and together most interesting molecule widely present in human body. Because of its physiologically properties, depending on its molecular weight, and pharmaceutical potential HA is studied extensively and recently it is increasingly used in medicine as backbone for therapeutics, e.g. in drug delivery systems. Hyaluronic acid is naturally present in healthy tissues as high molecular weight polymer. Especially under stress conditions or during inflammation the other form of hyaluronic acid can be found, the low molecular weight hyaluronic acid (less than 500 kDa)1. Molecular weight of hyaluronic acid is connected with tissue integrity which is reported by presence of high molecular weight hyaluronic acid (HMW-HA) and contrary low molecular weight hyaluronic acid (LMW-HA) plays role as a reporter of endogenous danger signals2. Because of these contradictory effects the hyaluronic acid has potential to stimulate or supress the immune response. In this point of view, there is need to prepare ideally monodisperse HA fragments with specific size to reach the best ration between immunostimulatory or immunosuppressive effects. Then the hyaluronic acid would not serve only as solid phase of drug delivery systems but becomes as a support and mediator for desirable effect of drugs in level of immune response with increasing pharmaceutics potential. In this work the easy-to-use magnetic carrier based on magnetic macroporous bead cellulose with immobilized enzyme was used to find novel way to achieve control fragmentation of hyaluronic acid. These systems are useful in application where the accurate time of reaction, no residual enzyme activity and pure catalytic products are needed. We were tested this magnetic carrier on soluble hyaluronic acid and hyaluronic acid nanoparticles for preparation of size-specific fragments.
