eng	Novel Effective Synthesis of Key Intermediate of Veterinary Drug Alfaprostol	Synthesis of ω-chain is based on the approach developed by group around Gandolfi. Here we want to discuss improvement of Gandolfi´s pathway as well as application of synthetic approach going hand in hand with using modern and effective synthetic agents. Reaction of Corey aldehyde with the appropriate phosphonate in the sense of a Wittig-Horner reaction was the first reaction of synthetic pathway. Stereoselective reduction of the obtained bromo-ketone was performed with highly active agents. The subsequent dehydrohalogenation is worked out by modern effective reagent to form triple bond of ω-chain in high yield.
