eng The use of functionalized magnetic particles as a tool for fast detection of foodborne pathogens Immunomagnetic separation (IMS) using particles functionalized with antibodies against antigens is an effective tool for selective isolation of target molecules such as peptides, proteins or whole cells like bacteria. The crucial step is a preparation of magnetic immunosorbent with required specificity and selectivity. This step is represented by biofunctionalization of suitable magnetic carrier by specific antibodies directed against target cells. In this study we focused on development of specific immunosorbent for immunomagnetic separation of foodborne pathogens especially Salmonella Typhimurium from milk. Mainly we were interested in specificity and selectivity of developed immunosorbent for bacteria cells separation. functionalized magnetic particles; foodborne pathogens
