eng RELEASE KINETICS OF TRAMADOL HYDROCHLORIDE FROM MATRICES CONTAINING MIXTURE OF BIOPOLYMERS – ALGINATE AND CHITOSANE Aim of this study is to select appropriate formulations of matrix tablets containing biopolymers, based on dissolution tests. Studied tablets consisted chitosane, sodium alginate (or their combination), well soluble model drug – tramadol hydrochloride, dry binder – Prosolv® SMCC 90 and lubricant – magnesium stearate. All tablets were prepared by direct compression method with a hand press. As a dissolution medium were used acidic medium simulating gastric fluid (pH 1,2) and phosphate buffer simulating intestinal fluid (pH=6,8). An integral part of the experiment was visual detection of the drug release from matrix by swelling event. erosion of the tablet in dependence of the composition of matrix and pH of the solution. release kinetics; tramadol; alginate; chitosane
