eng Advance in the Ethanol Transformation to higher Alcohols via Heterogeneous Catalysis of Li-Al Mixed Metal Oxides This work is focused on the transformation of bio-ethanol to more valuable chemical compounds via heterogeneous catalysis in the flow reactor. Ethanol, sourced from renewable resources like sugar crops or lignocellulosic waste, is ideal for this process. Butanol, one of primary products, holds significance as it functions both as a solvent and as a raw material for production of other chemicals, e.g., hexanol, butyl acrylate, iso-butene (additive to polymers). Therefore, successful transformation of ethanol into higher alcohols and other hydrocarbons can lead to a process that is more environmentally friendly, which is primarily due to reducing dependence on crude oil.
