eng 44th Modern Electrochemical Methods We present a reactivity-based approach for the removal of 17α-ethinylestradiol (EE2) via azo coupling with benzenediazonium tetrafluoroborate in aqueous solution (pH ~9). The resulting precipitate (azoEE2), identified as a mixture of two isomers, was characterized by ¹H NMR and exhibited a distinct DPV peak at +1056 mV, separate from EE2 (+1120 mV). Under stoichiometric conditions, no EE2 remained in the filtrate. Although excess reagent led to phenolic by-products, the method demonstrates the potential for selective capture and supports the future development of polymer-bound diazonium sorbents.
