Project phases

  1. Preparation and presentation of the project (product)
    1. Project web sites and workshops
  2. Identifying the needs of the market and the potential of educational institutions (Product)
    1. Preparatory phase of research. In individual institutions, the needs of the market are identified and they specifically focus on the needs of Industry 4.0. The outputs are compared with thecatalog of occupations in individual countries and compared with the educational outputs in the descriptions of the individual study programs. Information on legal aspects in individualcountries regarding the implementation of innovations in the educational process will be prepared. The potential to implement good practice from other institutions in individual countriesfor research and project needs is characterized. A research strategy and research process will be proposed.
  3. Research and processing of research results + final meeting (Product)
    1. Implementation of the research itself. After determining the methodology, the research will be carried out in focused groups. In the final phase, the research results will be statisticallyevaluated. There will be an expert discussion on the research results. Creation of proposals for individual subjects for study programs. + Based on the created battery of professionalsubjects, testing will take place in practice. According to the individual possibilities of the universities, respecting the legal regulations for the organization of teaching, conditions fortesting proposals would be established and descriptions of individual subjects and contents would be created, characteristics of graduates and identification of potential links with theneeds of practice. Proposal of changes and verification in practice with the help of expert discussion. + Summarization of knowledge from verification of proposals, implementation ofknowledge from practice and comparison with the catalog of occupations in individual countries. The design of an e-learning platform, the BIP program in the structure of Erasmus + andthe organization of a professional conference to present research results and proposals. Creation of mutations of subject and program descriptions in the languages of the projectparticipants and in EN. Research Questions

Research questions 1: What level of competences (digital, general and soft) do companies (organizations) require from graduates of non-economic fields when starting employment in connection with their adaptation to Industry 4.0?

Research question 2: How do students of non-economic fields of study perceive the need for competences (digital, general and soft) caused by the adaptation of companies (organizations) to Industry 4.0 for future employment and what willingness do they show to study subjects that provide these competences?

Research question 3: What specific subjects should be included in non-economic study programs (or how should existing subjects be modified) so that graduates acquire the necessary competences, increasing their chances of employment in companies (organizations) adapting to Industry 4.0?

Research Methodology

To find answers to the research questions, primary research will be carried out in three steps:

1) Qualitative research among industrial enterprises (5 enterprises addressed in each partner country). The aim of the research is to reveal the necessary level of pre-specified competencies.

2) Quantitative research among students of non-economic study fields (50 students addressed in each partner country). The aim of the research is to determine the degree of need for individual competencies from the perspective of students and at the same time their willingness to study subjects that will ensure this competency.

3) Qualitative research among academic staff of the project partner institutions. The aim will be to assess the ability of current non-economic study programs taught at the workplaces of the involved project partners to provide the competencies required by the adaptation of enterprises (organizations) to Industry 4.0 and to propose innovations that enable the improvement of these competencies and, subsequently, the employment of graduates of these study programs.

The starting point of the research is the competencies required in connection with the advent of Industry 4.0, defined by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of the Czech Republic and listed in the Central Database of Competencies (https://cdk.nsp.cz/). The research is based not only on the specification of groups and the content of groups of competencies, but also on the defined levels of individual competencies. When defining the levels of digital competencies, the e-learning course on digital competencies at eStudovna (https://www.estudovna.cz/cz/digi-kompetence.html) was also used.
