In the presented work we studied intercalation of push-pull systems based on pyridines into layered hosts, as the restricted geometry in the interlayer space of layered inorganic solids helps to organize the incorporated species in a way favorable for the improvement of their optical properties. Several pyridine derivatives were chosen so that the influence of branching and the length of the branch in the guest molecules on the properties of the prepared intercalates cen be determined.	intercalation; nonlinear optics; phosphates
