In this contribution, we describe intercalation of three optically active molecules having one two or three pyridine-4-yl moieties into α-Zr(HPO4)2·H2O, γ-Ti(HPO4)2·2H2O and zirconium sulfophenyl-phosphonate. The influence of the number of protonable atoms in the molecule and its shape on the amount of the guest molecules intercalated, their arrangement and especially on optical properties of the intercalates is discussed.	intercalation; layered phosphonates; layered phophates
