eng Lipidomic analysis of breast cancer samples using LC/MS Breast cancer is the most common malignant tumor in women population and one of the most common causes of cancer death. The lipid metabolism plays an important role in the oxidative stress and is associated with factors linked to the breast cancer risk including the hormonal balance, body mass index, breast density, drug metabolism, growth of insulin levels, etc. The coupling of liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry (LC/MS) is the technique most frequently used for lipidomic analysis of various biological samples. The LC/MS characterization of lipid differences between normal and cancer cell lines and human tissues is the first step for the identification of the statistically significant lipids in observed type of cancer.
