eng Investigation of glycosylation-modified proteome from Francisella tularensis type B An existence of Francisella pathogenicity island (FPI) is required for intracellular growth and virulence of Francisella tularensis (F. tularensis) in mice. However, most of the FPI-encoded genes are highly conserved among the strains, which indicates that the presence of FPI alone is important but not sufficient for the high virulence of Francisella type A. On the basis of this study, a potential participation of glycosylation in the virulence of this pathogen has been postulated. In summary, 11 proteins were identified in the applied glycoproteomic approaches. These proteins represent the best candidates for F. tularensis glycosylation. Francisella tularensis
