eng Plasma levels of matrix metalloproteinase-9 before and after percutaneous coronary intervention in patients with stable angina pectoris. Levels of metalloproteinase-9 antigen and active metalloproteinase-9 were measured before stent implantation and 24 and 28 hours after procedure. The significant increasing metalloproteinase-9 antigen was found after procedure (24 hours: 443.5+/-174.1ng/ml, p=0.0066, 48 hours: 469.3+/-245.2 ng/ml, p= 0.015) in comparison with initial concentrations (215.6+/-157.6 ng/ml). The decline of active metalloproteinase-9 was no significant (24 hours: 7.4 +/-3.0 ng/ml, p=0.09, 48 hours: 7.3+/-2.9 ng/ml, p=0.086) in comparison with initial levels (12.9+/-9.0 ng/ml). Active metalloproteinase-9 declines after procedure. On the contrary, levels of metalloproteinase-9 antigen elevate. We have found out significant correlation between levels of metalloproteinase-9 antigen and C-reactive protein before and after stent implantation. mettaloproteinase-9; percutaneous coronary intervention
