eng Sorption of quarternary ammonium salts using modified humic acids Adsorption techniques are widely used to remove certain classes of pollutants from waters, especially those which are not easily biodegradable. In this poster, the use of different humic acid (HA, FeHA, MHA) for the removal of different cationic compounds from aqueous solutions will be presented. Aqueous solutions of basic dyes Methylene Blue and Crystal Violet and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB, cationic surfactant) were used in described sorption experiments. Humic acid (HA) and iron humate (FeHA) were prepared by precipitation with KHSO4 or Fe(SO4)3 from aqueous solutions of commercially obtained potassium humate (Humatex, a.s., company, Czech Republic). Modified humic acid (MHA) was obtained by azocoupling reaction of diazotized aromatic amine with potassium humate in aqueous solution.
