eng	Cellulose Aging as Key Process of Paper Destruction	The hypothetical mechanism of degradation and destruction of cellulose aging process during its acid oxidation process under the influence of air pollution is presented. The kinetics and mechanism of depolymerisation during nitroxidemediated oxidation of native cellulose was studied under various conditions. Physical heterogeneity of the native cellulose and its complicated hypermolecular and supramolecular structure exerts a marked influence upon the kinetics of oxidation and depolymerisation of cellulose. The feasibility of using the same Staudinger-Mark-Houwink equation to calculate the degree of polymerization of cellulose and the degree of polymerization of oxidized cellulose is demonstrated.	cellulose;oxidizing;nitrogen oxides;paper;aging
