eng Solid-state fluorescence of substituted methylidene-pyrrolinones A series of new methylidene-pyrrolinones with electron donating substituents were synthesized and their absorption and fluorescence properties were compared with previously reported behaviour of their unsubstituted analogues. Their structures were estimated theoretically by density functional theory (DFT). N-methylated vinylene extended derivatives show strong ss fluorescence in the range from yellow to red. methylidene-pyrrolinones; absorption and fluorescence properties
