eng Metallophilic Interaction in Coinage Metal Complexes of Triazole Based NHC – Combined Experimental and Theoretical Approach Even though the pioneering works of Öfele and Wanzlick were published in the late 1960s, the real turning point in the chemistry of N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHC) came almost thirty years after with the synthesis of a stable free carbene by Arduengo in 1991. The same author was also the first to report on stable NHC complexes of silver and copper. The presented work focuses on probing of the metallophilic interaction in the series of triazole based NHC complexes. The experimentally acquired structural data of the two sets of metallophilic dimers were subsequently used as a starting point for detailed ab initio theoretical calculations.
