eng Initiators for Preparation of Biodegradable Polymers: Aluminium, Magnesium and Zinc Complexes Containing N,N'-Chelating Amino-Amide Hybrid Ligand The magnesium, zinc, aluminum and tin(II) compounds are frequently studied as initiators for ring opening polymerization (ROP) of various cyclic precursors to biodegradable polymers. Reactions of N,N'-chelated by hybrid amino-amido ligand ([2-(Me2NCH2)C6H4N(R)]ˉ; R = H, SiMe3 or benzyl) with various organometallic compounds and complexes, containing Mg, Zn and Al as the central atom, have been performed. Structure of resulting amido or imido complexes having mono-, di- or hexanuclear (Fig. 1) character was established in solution as well as in the solid state. Selected complexes were used as precursors of homogenous catalysts for ROP of lactides, ε-caprolactone and trimethylene carbonate.
