eng Inhibition of premature polymerization of cationically curable systems with triethanolamine This work is concerned with the inhibition of early polymerization of cationically polymerizable systems. Testing deals with the inhibition effect of triethanolamine on premature polymerization of systems consisting of epoxide monomers and various types of cationic initiators: iodonium, sulfonium, and iron-arene salts. The efficiency of triethanolamine as a protecting agent of cationically curable systems against premature polymerization was tested by measuring of viscosity changes at room and elevated temperatures. Alternation of viscosity reflects changes in the distribution of molecular weights in the system or structural changes caused by premature polymerization. Stability of the prepared samples was studied in range of a few months. The flow behaviour was measured using rheometer Hakke RotoVisco 1. The reactivity of the samples was tested with FTIR spectroscopy at the beginning and at the end of a long term stability test.
