eng VERTICAL PROFILE OF OPERATIVE TEMPERATURE IN RESPONSE TO RADIANT TEMPERATURE ASYMMETRY On a local level, the central or even local HVAC equipment could be source of non-uniform thermal environment including indoor air velocity flow field and radiant and operative temperatures, thus causing a local discomfort. Yet, the airflow and temperature fields around the occupant magnify the person’s thermal sensitivity according to Weber-Fechner law. To quantify that influence there was proposed non-dimensional parameter which would modify the operative temperature prior it was used as input variable in the controller which was used to maintain the desirable operative temperature. Further was calculated PD-index within the occupied zone to check for draft and radiant asymmetry with a stereo-thermometer. The quantities formed a vector which served as input variable vector in the PI-controller. The controller with a controlled space was designed in Matlab environment in order to simulate and evaluate the transient thermal states. Operative temperature, asymmetry of thermal radiation, CFD model, PD-index, thermal sensitivity parameter, thermal radiation field, infrared radiant heater
