eng	Thiophene-fused 1,2-diketones.	1,2-Dicarbonyl compounds bearing heterocyclic residues are used as photosensitizers or reactive starting materials in pharmaceutical, organic synthesis as well as suitable and electron-rich compounds for construction of push-pull systems. Push-pull derivates are widely used organic materials in non-linear optics, organic light emitting diodes or photovoltaics. Isomeric benzodithiophenequinone with two fused thiophenes and bridged via 1,2-dicarbonyl linker are of particular interest. These compounds are useful building blocks for thin film transistors and as a part of polymers for detection of Zn2+ and Hg2+ ions. However, their reported synthesis is long-lasting, low-yielding, and does not allow further easy modification. Hence, we have recently developed a new synthetic pathway towards methoxy derivative. It involves a four-step reaction sequence as will be discussed in this contribution.	thiophene; 1,2-dicarbonyl;
