eng Monoanionic guanidinates as versatile ligands for main group element complexes Chemistry of the main group elements has undergone rapid and extensive development in the last two decades and has become an integral part of modern research. Advances in the coordination chemistry of non-transition elements compounds are directly related to the use of new classes of ligands with the ability to sterically and electronically stabilize the central atom in the complex.1,2 Coordination chemistry of guanidinates is currently a very popular area of research, mainly due to the good availability of precursors for their preparation and the possibility of adapting their steric hindrance and electronic properties through the variation of substituents on nitrogen atoms. The donor properties and diversity of coordination modes make them compatible with various metal and non-metal atoms.3,4 Guanidines are abundant in nature, often as a part of larger biologically important molecules such as arginine and its derivatives, giving guanidine compounds an important role in the biochemical and pharmaceutical industries. A series of thirteen guanidinate complexes was prepared by electrophilic substitution of guanidine DippN-C(NEt2)NDipp (1) with lithium, magnesium, zinc, aluminium, tin and phosphorus organometallic compounds, or via subsequent in-situ reaction. Process of all reactions, structure of prepared products and their purity were all monitored by multinuclear NMR spectroscopy and XRD analysis of monocrystalline material.
