eng DPZ-mediated photocatalytic cross-coupling reactions Biaryls represent important structural motifs in pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals and materials of organic electronics and photonics. Nowadays, the main method used for the synthesis of biaryls is metal-catalysed C-C coupling reaction. Photochemical coupling represents metal-free alternative by employing a photoredox catalysts and visible light. In this work, dicyanopyrazine photoredox catalyst (DPZ) was used to mediate a coupling reaction between (hetero)aryl halides (e.g. pyridine, pyrimidine, imidazole, thiazole, and oxazoleiodides) with a suitable radical trap such as 1H-pyrrole, N-methylpyrrole, pyridine or diphenylethene. A series of blank experiments combined with spectral and electrochemical measurements also allowed to propose a plausible mechanism of this reaction. dicyanopyrazine; photoredox catalysis; biaryl
