eng New business models for the transformation to a circular economy The concept of circular economy has gained considerable attention in the last decade. The subject of the research was the transition of companies to a circular economy, what circular activities they implement, what obstacles they face and perceive opportunities. Qualitative analysis of selected Czech chemical manufacturing companies focused on the area of consumer chemical production. Data was collected through interviews with managers or company owners. The R0-R9 frameworks of circular strategies were used to categorize measures. While circular strategies are more visible in mechanical engineering, they are also present in the chemical sector. Companies had different approaches, both proactive and passive approaches to the implementation of circular procedures were evident. The implemented business models reflect a combination of traditional procedures and innovative approaches to the principles of the circular economy. In the case of consumer chemical production, measures at different levels of circularity were identified. Key observations: R0/Refuse: Modular production lines allowing production flexibility, reducing the need for new equipment; R1/Rethink: sharing production capacity with internal or external partners; R2/Reduce: optimizing the use of raw materials, consumption of packaging material, chemical leasing of products; R3/Reuse: low-quality products in production, return programs for packaging materials; R4/Repair: preventive maintenance; R5,6,7/Refurbish, Remanufacture, Repurpose: modernization and modification of production lines; R8/Recycle: higher share of recycled packaging materials; R9/Recover: energy recovery from waste, waste heat. Companies face obstacles such as financial constraints, insufficient legislative support and technological limitations, while recognizing the opportunities to remain competitive and the importance of developing sustainable and circular business models Circular economy; circular business model; sustainable supply chain; ecodesign
