cze Preparation and Characterization of Ag/alumina Catalysts for the Removal of NOx Emissions under Oxygen Rich Conditions xxx
eng Preparation and Characterization of Ag/alumina Catalysts for the Removal of NOx Emissions under Oxygen Rich Conditions There is a huge interest in developing new and practical catalysts for abatement of NOx emissions released from lean-burn engines. This study shows that Ag/alumina catalysts are higly selective and active in converting NOx to N2 in the presence of simulated diesel exhausts. In order to explain the high activity achieved over Ag/alumina, the effect of parameters (synthesis time and Ag precursor concentration) was investigated and their influence on the activity pattern was established. High activity and selectivity in converting NO to nitrogen was achieved at model diesel exhaust gas composition of 500 ppm No, 375 ppm C8H18, 6% O2, 350 ppm CO, 10% CO2 and 12% H2O, rest helium and GHSV 60 000h-1. The state of Ag in the catalysts was determined by UV-VIS. Additionaly, FTIR, O2-adsorptin, H2-TPR and ZRF measurements were conducted to give a comprehensive understanding of the catalytic phenomena. The highest and most stable activity was observed with Ag/alumina, exhibiting predominantly mono-atomically dispersed silver, which possesses high tendency to re-disperse Ag clusters possibly formed during the redox process.
