eng Usage of Recycled Fibres for Production of Sack Paper This paper deals with the utilization of secondary fibres as one of possible furnishes for the production of sack paper. In the first set of experiments, the effect of the addition of waste papers to the virgin kraft pulp upon the tensile properties, air permeability, and sizing was investigated. Waste papers, namely postconsumer corrugated board (quality class A5), and cutoffs obtained from corrugated board never used (quality class A6), were chosen as a resource of secondary fibres. Using handsheet former, handsheets having a basis weight of about 70 g/m2 were made from the virgin kraft pulp, waste paper A5, and waste paper A6. Also, the mixtures containing from 10 to 90 % of waste papers were tested in this first series of runs. Additional experiments for low furnishes of the waste paper A5, when waste paper content varied in the range from 0 to 10 %, were carried out as well. In the second set of experiments, kaolin, calcium carbonate, and filter diatomaceous earth used as filling agents were added to the virgin kraft pulp. For all fillers, their furnishes were kept on three levels, 10, 20, and 30 %, based on the oven dried pulp. Retention of the fillers in handsheets was determined as well. The influence of the tensile properties, air resistance, and sizing was investigated. Fibre bonding ability according to their peeling character measured by rheosedimentation method was also evaluated. waste paper; sack paper; tensile properties; air permeability
