eng Ammoxidation of Propane over Fe/zeolites: Effect of Reaction Variables and Catalyst Composition and Structure In this study, the effects of iron concentration and constitution, zeolite matrix composition and reaction conditions on catalytic activity of Fe-zeolites in direct ammoxidation of propane to acrylonitrile are investigated and compared at conditions using oxygen or nitrous oxide or their mixture as oxidants. A set of catalysts of MFI and MTW structure topology with Fe species (concentration ranging in Si/Fe ratio from 40 to 950) introduced during zeolite synthesis were characterized by ESR and UV-vis spectroscopy and tested in ammoxidation reaction at 540 °C. The results of this study show the possibility to use Fe-zeolites in direct ammoxidation of propane to acrylonitrile and acetonitrile. Ammoxidation of propane proceed on special extra-framework Fe ions exclusively generated by hydrolysis of framework Si-O-Fe bonds. The strong synergetic effect of small addition of N2O into reaction mixture was observed. The advantage of this catalytic system is its catalytic stability in time on stream.
