eng Organic Push-Pull Molecules: Versatile Materials for Optoelectronics Nowadays, organic p-conjugated molecules functionalized with electron donors (D) and acceptors (A) represent burgeoning area of material chemistry. A typical organic D-p-A push-pull system would be sketched in Figure 1. In such system, intramolecular charge-transfer (ICT) from the donor to the acceptor through the p-linker takes place and the molecule becomes polarized and constitutes a dipole. The extent of the ICT is particularly determining the linear (LO) as well as nonlinear optical (NLO) properties of push-pull molecules. Hence, the D-p-A arrangement and thus resulting unique LO and NLO properties, predestinate the use of such molecules in modern ptoelectronic devices such as OLEDs, OPVCs, DSSCs, switches, data storage, etc. In recent years, we have investigated variety of organic push-pull systems that can be principally divided in three subgroups according the dominant feature of the p-linker used: - p-linker made of multiple bonds - p-linker made of aromates - p-linker made of heteroaromates Within the lecture, design, mainly synthetic approach, organic transformations using modern transition metal-catalyzed reactions, and further functionalization of D-p-A systems will be discussed. The presentation will be completed with selected properties and applications of such organic materials. push-pull molecules; organic materials; p-linker;
