eng CATALYTIC ACTIVITY IN THE OXIDATIVE DEHYDROGENATION OF PROPANE ON THE PURPOSELY PREPARED VANADIUM MATERIALS Oxidative dehydrogenation (ODH) of light alkanes could be an alternative technology for the production of alkenes [1]. The vanadia catalysts supported on mesoporous materials seems to be promising catalysts in this reaction. Surface vanadia sites might be present at the surface in different forms ranging from isolated monomeric VOX species, one or two dimensional oligomer species up to vanadium oxide particles [2]. This study focused on different ways of preparing the V-SBA-15 and the possibility of modifying the surface of the SBA-15 by alumina and titania. Catalysts were characterized by XRF (determination of vanadium content), N2-BET methods (investigation of textural properties), and H2-TPR, Raman and UV-Vis spectroscopic methods for the determination of reducibility and type of vanadium oxide species. The catalytic activity of the prepared catalysts in ODH of propane was investigated under different contact times (W/F ratios) at 540°C in a plug-flow fixed-bed reactor under atmospheric pressure and steady state conditions. Differently populated highly dispersed monomeric and low-oligomeric VOX species were present on each vanadium catalyst depending on vanadium content and method of preparation. The whole set of experimental results will be shown and discussed in a broader context. References [1] F. Cavani, N. Ballarini, A. Cericola, Catalysis Today 127 (2007) 113-131 [2] S. A.
