eng Crystallization of alkaline-earth niobophosphate glasses In the BaO-Nb2O5-P2O5 ternary system two barium niobatophosphate compounds lie inside the glass-forming region: BaNb2P2O11 (with 33.3 mol% Nb2O5) and Ba3Nb2(PO4)4O2 (with 16.6 mol% Nb2O5). Similar glasses were prepared with alkaline-earth oxides (CaO, SrO, BaO) from carbonates of the these metals.. Basic parameters of all the prepared glasses were obtained and their crystallization was studied by thermal analysis. Both glasses crystallize at 850-900°C. Crystallization products were analyzed by X-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy and 31P and 93Nb NMR spectroscopy. Crystallization of glasses of the composition MO.Nb2O5.P2O5 revealed more similarities between calcium and strontium glasses, where the compound NbPO5 dominates in X-ray diffraction patterns of their crystallization products, whereas for barium glass BaNb2P2O11 compound is the main crystallization product.
