eng Azaphilones pigments from Talaromyces Albobiverticillius Azaphilones can be defined as a structurally diverse class of fungal secondary metabolites (polyketide derivatives), namely pigments with pyrone-quinone structures containing a highly oxygenated bicyclic core and a chiral quaternary carbon center. Overall, 12 different extracts of Talaromyces Albobiverticillus pigments were prepared. The pigments were analysed by HPLC-PDA-ESI/MS system in positive and negative ionization modes. Typical electrospray adducts formation were observed in various cases. A possible tentative compounds identification was made based on the results obtained and the available literature; in particular, were tentatively identified N-threonine-monascorubramine and N-threonine-rubropunctamine; they both showed the corresponding [M + H]+ and [M - H]- pseudomolecular ions, together with adducts formation with acetonitrile. Moreover were also tentatively identified N-glutaryl-rubropunctamine that showed the [M + H]+ and [M - H]- pseudomolecular ions, together with the ions corresponding to the loss of CO2, and PP-O that showed the corresponding [M + H]+ and [M - H]- pseudomolecular ions, together with adducts formation with acetonitrile and sodium atom. Further work is in progress in order to fully characterize the pigments by NMR analysis. Azaphilones, gas chromatography
