eng Copper(II) complexes of 2-(imidazol-2-yl)imidazolidine-4-ones as catalysts for asymmetric Henry reaction Many of chiral heterocyclic compounds in enantiomerically pure form (e.g. oxazolines, imidazolines, pyrrolidines) were utilized as ligands in metal complexes, which were used as enantioselective catalysts of different asymmetric reactions. [1] Among this type of catalysts belong also copper(II) complexes of substituted 2-(pyridine-2-yl)imidazolidine-4-one derivatives, which were found as very powerful enantioselective catalysts for asymmetric Henry reaction. [2] The most efficient of them were immobilized on different types of carriers (e.g. polystyrene resin, magnetic nanoparticles, poly(ethylene glycol)) affording recyclable forms of catalysts. [3] In this work, the substituted 2-(imidazole-2-yl)imidazolidine-4-one derivatives bearing alkenyl group (R1) in imidazole moiety were synthetized (Fig. 1) and their copper(II) complexes were evaluated as enantioselective catalysts for asymmetric Henry reaction. It was found out, that trans forms of these catalysts exhibited excellent enantioselectivity (up to 98 % ee). Therefore, their catalytic efficiency was studied after anchoring on functionalized polystyrene resins (e.g. Merrifield resin) leading to recyclable catalytic forms. 2-(imidazol-2-yl)imidazolidine-4-ones, Henry reaction, asymmetric, copper(II) complexes
