eng Dicyanopyrazines: Organic push-pull molecules with exciting photoredox activity Photoredox catalysis is currently considered as a renascent tool used for the construction of chemical bonds. Visible light-induced chemical transformations are generally carried out under very mild conditions without presence of an external energy source (except the light). Beside well-known ruthenium and iridium polypyridine complexes, such transformation may also be catalyzed by organic substances. Beside popular xanthene dyes the current interest is directed towards synthetic dyes. Based on our recent investigation on pyrazine-derived X-shaped push-pull molecules,2 we have recently developed new dicyanopyrazine (DCP) derivatives bearing (5 methoxy)thiophen-2-yl electron donors. This class of molecule possess optical and redox properties well tailored for photoredox catalysis as demonstrated in variety of reactions including cross-dehydrogenative coupling, unprecedented chemodivergent radical cascade reactions, aerobic photooxygenation and enantioselective oxidative C(sp3)-H olefinations. Design, structure and preparation of the DPZ catalysts and their catalytic activity will be discussed during the lecture. Dicyanopyrazines; photoredox catalysis
