eng ELECTROCHEMICALLY ACTIVE PROBES BASED ON COUPLING OF QUANTUM DOTS WITH BIFUNCTIONAL DENDRONS Nowadays, the nanostructured materials are frequently used in biomedicine or biotechnologies. Natural polymers as well as artificial synthesized polymers are used as backbones or cores allowing further functionalization and utilization [1, 2]. Dendrons are polymeric unilaterally branched nanostructures enabling implementation of two different functional groups on one non-branched side and other on opposite poly-branched side. Undoubtedly, the exactly defined amounts of functional groups make them exploitable for biofunctionalization which also increases their water solubility and biocompatibility for further various applications. Here, we presented a quantum dots modified dendrons as electroactive probes of antibodies in development of affinity biosensor [3]. Precisely defined structure and high number of functional groups predict the potential of dendrons to increase the electrochemical signal and sensitivity of analysis through higher amount of conjugated electroactive quantum dots. For these purposes, we selected dendrons with amine and carboxyl groups. Quantum dots were incorporated by two approaches – at its carboxyl or amino end. Functionality of prepared probes was confirmed on analysis of ovarian cancer biomarker, human epididymis protein (HE4), or together with cancer antigen 125 (CA 125) in multiple biomarker detection. Electrochemical analysis was proceeded by square wave anodic stripping voltammetry and with use of screen-printed carbon electrodes with in situ formed bismuth film.
