eng Application of Servitization in the Chemical Industry. More and more suppliers nowadays offer services with an added value to strengthen performance of their main product in the customer value system. Manufacturers thus respond to the growing competition not only by offering additional services with a product, but more and more often also by offering customer solutions. In fact, this is development and application of the process of servitization in product companies, i.e. shifting from a point where firms considered their offering in terms of “goods or services”, through “goods and services”, to the marketing of bundles of “goods + services + support + knowledge + self-service”. Servitization can be understood as a process of transformation, where companies, and they are often manufacturing companies, develop their capabilities which they need to be able to provide services and solutions that will supplement their offering of traditional products. Basically, it is innovation of the organization’s capabilities and processes leading to better creation of a value through a shift from selling a product to selling product-service systems. Servitization is a chance for companies to use their competitive advantages and to create a new source of income. At the same time, it is an opportunity to build a long-term relationship with the customer. It thus helps them to maintain their position in the globalized market. This transformation to services and solutions requires significant changes inside a lot of traditional manufacturers. They have to build solutions that deliver the outcomes their customers want and value, which is significantly affected, besides other things, by the type of industry. Therefore, the paper mainly aims to identify the possibilities of application of servitization at a chemical company. To meet the objective, the paper first explains the process of servitization and how servitization works on the basis of a targeted research, and then it presents the outcomes of a primary qualitative research.
