eng ELECTROCHEMICAL DETECTION OF PROTEIN BIOMARKERS USING METAL NANOPARTICLES Remarkable progress has been made in developing immunoassays for electrochemical detection of protein biomarkers, especially for clinical applications. Nanomaterials used as labels can generate electrical signals and amplify them due to higher surface and many electronic, chemical and, mechanical properties since biomolecules are unable to provide readable signals for electrodes. Anyway, the biggest challenge is the selection of nanoparticles to detect at a low level in a matrix of the biological sample. In this immunoassay, bioconjugate was labeled with electroactive metal nanoparticles and combined with mesoporous silica nanoparticles, which enabled the conjugation with ligands (specific antibodies) and interacted with the targeted protein. Evaluation of the binding efficiency of prepared bioconjugate was done by SDS-PAGE, while the outcome signal was analyzed with square wave voltammetry (SWV). This work shows a new immunosensor for simultaneous detection of protein biomarkers in amniotic fluid.
