eng Modification of side groups for restricting pi-pi stacking in phenyl-carbazole-based fluorescent molecules Pi-pi stacking is a non-covalent interaction between aromatic molecules or functional groups, where the electron clouds of adjacent aromatic rings align and interact. In the context of photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY), pi-pi stacking can also have negative influences - the occurrence o pi-pi stacking can lead to reduced PLQY. By strategically modifying the side groups, it is possible to influence the strength an geometry of pi-pi stacking, thereby restricting or promoting specific intermolecular interactions. In this work, fluorescent phenyl-carbazole derivatives were synthesized and characterized, phenyl and xylyl were chosen as side groups to see a particular influence on the emission properties of each and to obtain new fluorescent molecules emitting in a solid phase.
