eng Transition metal doping effects in polycrystalline Bi2O2Se Bi2O2Se is an n-type thermoelectric material with a quasi-2D layered structure. As has been demonstrated in many works, this material can achieve low thermal conductivity, reasonable carrier concentration and mobility that is tunable by doping. In this study, we have investigated the substitution of Bi by transition metals. We have performed a thorough investigation of transition metal-doped Bi2O2Se polycrystalline samples with manganese as a representative example. This analysis included X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and measurements of electrical conductivity, Seebeck coefficient, thermal conductivity and magnetic properties. We compared the solubility limits and transport properties and other parameters of our samples with literature data. We found that our results often differ significantly from the literature data. The aim of this paper was to give an explanation of the overall problem with the reproducibility of Bi2O2Se doping.
