In period from 16th August to 19 September I had an opportunity to visit The Norwegian Colour and Visual Computing Laboratory, at Gjøvik University College.

The Norwegian Colour and Visual Computing Laboratory is an internationally renowned research institution, with broad experiences in research and education related to colour reproduction. My interest was to follow professionals at the laboratory, to learn from their work in their education and research and improve my personal skills as well as knowledge on advances in colour related sciences.

I have attended several workshops and interesting talks about, multispectral and hyperspectral imaging, multichannel print reproduction, fluorescence in colour measurements and many others. These talks significantly broadened my knowledge about new techniques in colour reproduction workflows. Wide variety of colour related topics, presented at conference “Colour and Visual Computing Symposium 2015”, gave me a fresh overview about colour in multidisciplinary context. The paper of consortium of authors: Ondrej Panák, Katsiaryna Kashtalyan, Tomáš Syrový; entitled: “Producing two-component thermochromic pattern by means of offset printing: Case study in a small printing house” was awarded as the best presentation at the conference. Fulltext of the paper can be found here.

My fellowship at GUC opened possibilities of common research and supervisions of bachelor and master theses focusing on colour management and colour measurements. Research activities could be also focused on gonio-spectrometric measurements of printed samples with different level of glossiness. Cooperation within these topic opens up new opportunities for cooperation between GUC (The Norwegian Colour and Visual Computing Laboratory) and UPa (Dep. Of Gprahic Arts and Photophysics, Institute of applied physics and mathematics). In summer semester 2015/2016 further short term fellowships are planned within MODUS project between UPa and GUC.

The mobility was possible due to financial support of Programme EEA and Norway Grants (Programme CZ07) project no. NF-CZ07-INP-3-085-2014.

On 16. August, Ing. Ondrej Panák has begun a month research fellowship and practical training at The Norwegian Colour and Visual Computing Laboratory, at Gjøvik University College. The mobility is under financial support of Programme EEA and Norway Grants (Programme CZ07) project no. NF-CZ07-INP-3-085-2014.

The project aims to find intersections in interests of Department of Graphic Arts and Photophysics (UPa) and The Norwegian Colour and Visual Computing Laboratory (GUC) and strengthen cooperation in research and teaching activities in future. The main interest of Ondrej Panak is to learn from colleagues at GUC and to improve personal skills as well as knowledge on advances in colour reproduction in printing and imaging sciences. Mobility aims to open potential topics for further cooperation. The project also supports the attendance at international conference: The Colour and Visual Computing Symposium 2015.

We wish Ondrej successful stay full of inspiration.
